Today, many medical facilities lack the infrastructure, equipment, and training to diagnose and treat patients in respiratory distress. This issue affects older adults, children, and refugees. ALIMA works with ministries of health in Mali, Niger, Guinea, Sudan, and Burkina Faso to improve early detection and treatment of respiratory patients. We’ve introduced diagnostic tools, updated patient intake protocols, trained health workers in oxygen treatment, repaired oxygen production plants to boost supply, and improved supply chains to ensure sustained access to medical oxygen across populous and remote areas. This work is just the beginning.
